Ortho-K is ideal for:

  • People who want clear natural vision all day – every day
  • Sporty or Active People
  • Young People – Ortho-K can help reduce the progression of shortsightedness
  • People who have considered laser surgery but are worried about the risks
  • People who find contact lenses uncomfortable or inconvenient

The Process:

Appointment 1. Evaluation
Patient must not have worn any contact lenses for at least 48 hours prior to initial appointment. Suitability is assessed and scans taken to accurately map shape of front surface of the eye.

Appointment 2. Fitting
Lenses are fitted, patient shown how to insert, remove, clean and store the lenses. Lenses to be worn that night.

Appointment 3. First Assessment
Morning after first wear patient returns to the practice wearing the lenses – Lenses removed and vision assessed.

Appointment 4. First Follow Up
Patient returns 5-7 days later for an afternoon appointment when lenses will have been removed upon awaking. It is anticipated that a good level of vision has now been achieved and is remaining stable throughout the day.

Appointment 5. Second Assessment
Patient returns approximately 14 days from first wear. Confirming successful fitting

Future Aftercare:

Patient returns every 6 months for a vision and eye health assessment. Lenses are replaced and new scans taken either every 6 or 12 months.

Cost

If suitable for scans, there is an initial fee of £189.00. This is the cost of all Initial appointments, your first pair of lenses, (plus up to 2 pairs of prescription changes should they be required), cleaning solutions and a storage case.

You will then be set up onto a direct debit scheme where a simple monthly fee will cover all future supply of lenses, (lenses are replaced either every 6 or 12 months) solutions, all future after care and sight tests.
