Your eyes are incredible — and vital to your everyday life. At our Gloucester practice, we’re passionate about helping you look after your vision and maintain healthy eyes at every stage of life. Regular eye exams don’t just keep your glasses up to date — they can also detect early signs of eye conditions and even general health issues.

How your eyes work?
Why Eye Health Matters
Your eye health can change gradually over time, often without any obvious symptoms. That’s why we recommend regular eye tests, even if you’re not currently experiencing problems. Many eye conditions are more manageable — and sometimes preventable — when caught early.
We use advanced equipment and take the time to thoroughly assess:
- Your vision and prescription
- The health of your eyes, including the retina and optic nerve
- Signs of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease
- General health issues such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, and even signs of diabetes
Advanced Testing Technology
We offer OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scanning, which gives us a 3D view of the back of your eyes — allowing us to detect issues earlier and monitor changes over time. It’s non-invasive, quick, and completely painless.
Eye Health for All Ages
Children: Regular eye tests are essential for learning and development. We offer free NHS exams and myopia management solutions to protect your child’s future vision.
Adults: Whether you wear glasses or not, your eyes should be checked every 1–2 years to keep on top of your prescription and spot early signs of issues.
Over 40s & Seniors: You may be more at risk for age-related conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration. More frequent testing is recommended — and we’re here to guide you through every step.
Eye Health Tips
To keep your eyes feeling and functioning at their best:
- Follow your recommended eye exam schedule
- Wear sunglasses to protect against UV damage
- Stay hydrated and eat a balanced, eye-friendly diet (think leafy greens, omega-3s, and colourful fruits)
